Notebook fried and replaced in 2012
· One min read
On 2012-07-25 I destroyed my notebook by mistake. The BIOS got fried during an update and the damage was not repairable. Development stopped for two weeks, because I had no machine that could compile and test my projects. I managed to back up all projects before the loss.
On 2012-08-17 the replacement arrived, and development could go on. This was the hardware change:
| Part | Old machine | New machine |
|---|---|---|
| Laptop | Asus X53 | Samsung, model unknown at that time |
| CPU | Intel Core i7 2nd gen at 2.2 GHz | Intel Core i7 3rd gen at 2.3 GHz |
| RAM | 8 GB | 8 GB |
| GPU | nVidia GT 540M, 2 GB | nVidia GT 650M, 2 GB |
The same problem appeared again in 2014, when the laptop GPU died and the Intel HD4000 left with OpenGL 3.3 only. See the Quark renderer post for more info.
